SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

TOUR OF BARRINGTON FIELDS

Present:               President Carl P. Kustell, Vice President Robert Humm, Councilor Kate Berard, and Councilor Braxton Cloutier

 

Absent:               Councilor Annelise Conway

 

Also Present:       Town Manager Phil Hervey, Public Works Director Alan Corvi, DPW Superintendent John Renquinha, DPW Engineer Colin O’Hara, Barrington Schools Athletics Director George Finn, Arthur Eddy of Traverse Landscape Architects

 

 

Council President Kustell called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m., in front of Barrington High School, 220 Lincoln Ave.

 

In front of the high school, Arthur Eddy of Traverse Landscape Architects, the consultant working on a fields analysis for the Town, summarized the work completed to date, including soil testing, interviews with user groups, meetings with Public Works and the Barrington Schools Athletics Director, and a tour of the Public Works facility on Upland Way. The study will include recommendations on the Town’s field scheduling system, some adjustments to field maintenance practices, and potential improvements to fields including hybrid and synthetic turf options.

 

The group walked and had a discussion at several athletic fields at the High School, including Victory Field. The tour continued at the athletic fields at St. Andrew’s Farm and Barrington Middle School.

 

No votes were taken.

 

On a motion by President Custell, the Council voted to adjourn the meeting at 10:40 a.m. at the Barrington Middle School multipurpose field.
