CRANSTON CITY COUNCIL

Notice of Special Meeting

 

NOVEMBER 23, 2020

 

 

            A Special meeting of the City Council was called held on Monday, November 23, 2020 via ZOOM.

 

            The meeting was called to order at 6:02 P.M. by the Council Vice-President.

        

Roll call showed the following members present:  Council Members Stycos, Hopkins, Vargas (appeared at 6:04 p.m.), Germain, Donegan, Brady, Paplauskas and Vice-President Favicchio -8.

 

            Absent:  Council President Farina -1.

 

            Also Present:  Daniel Parrillo, Director of Administration; John Verdecchia, Assistant City Solicitor; David Dimeo, City Council Budget Analyst.

 

            On motion by Councilmember Brady, seconded by Councilmember Germain, it was voted to go into Executive Session pursuant to RIGL 42-46-5(a)(2) Potential Litigation. 

 

Under Discussion:

            Councilmember Stycos asked that for the benefit of the incoming Council Members who are present on this call, he explained the reason for this Executive Session. He stated that the City has filed a legal case against Yardworks that is located on Warwick Ave. and the neighbors’ complaints are mainly that the business is disrupting them mainly by noise and the City has filed a case in Superior Court.  The purpose of this Executive Session is to get an update on that.

 

Roll call was taken on motion to go into Executive Session and motion passed on a vote of 8-0.  The following being recorded as voting “aye”:  Councilmembers Stycos, Hopkins, Vargas, Germain, Donegan, Brady, Paplauskas and Council Vice-President Favicchio -8.

 

Meeting went into Executive Session at 6:02 p.m.

 

            Present in Executive Session:  Councilmembers Stycos, Hopkins, Vargas, Germain, Donegan, Brady, Paplauskas and Council Vice-President Favicchio; Daniel Parrillo, Director of Administration; David Dimaio, City Council Budget Analyst; John Verdecchia, Assistant City Solicitor.

 

            On motion by Councilmember Paplauskas, seconded by Councilmember Brady, it was voted to come out of Executive Session:  Motion passed on a vote of 8-0.  The following being recorded as voting “aye”:  Councilmembers Stycos, Hopkins, Vargas, Germain, Donegan, Brady, Paplauskas and Council Vice-President Favicchio -8.

 

The meeting came out of Executive Session at 6:50 p.m.

 

            On motion by Councilmember Paplauskas, seconded by Councilmember Brady, it was voted to seal the minutes of Executive Session:  Motion passed on a vote of 8-0.  The following being recorded as voting “aye”:  Councilmembers Stycos, Hopkins, Vargas, Germain, Donegan, Brady, Paplauskas and Council Vice-President Favicchio -8.

 

The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
