CRANSTON CITY COUNCIL

Notice of Special Meeting

 

APRIL 15, 2021

 

 

 

 

            A Special meeting of the City Council was called held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 via ZOOM Webinar.

 

            The meeting was called to order at 5:02 P.M. by the Council President.

        

Roll call showed the following members present:  Councilwoman Marino, Councilman Ferri, Councilwoman Renzulli, Germain, Councilmen Donegan, Reilly, Council Vice-President Brady and Council President Paplauskas -8.

 

            Absent:  Councilwoman Vargas -1.

 

            Also Present:  John Verdecchia, Assistant City Solicitor; Stephen Angell, City Council Legal Counsel.

 

            Council President Paplauskas stated that nominations are now in order for Municipal Court Associate Judge.

 

            Council Vice-President Brady nominated Attorney Steven Moretti as Municipal Court Associate Judge.  No other nominations were made.

 

            On motion by Council Vice-President Brady, seconded by Councilwoman Renzulli, it was voted to appoint Steven Moretti as Municipal Court Associate Judge.  Motion passed on a vote of 5-3.  The following being recorded as voting “aye”:  Councilman Ferri, Councilwoman Renzulli, Councilman Reilly, Council Vice-President Brady and Council President Paplauskas -5.  The following being recorded as voting “nay”:  Councilwomen Marino, Germain and Councilman Donegan -3.

           

            Council President Paplauskas stated that nominations are now in order for Auxiliary Judge.

 

            Council Vice-President Brady nominated Attorney Raymond Coia as Auxiliary Judge.  No other nominations were made.

 

            On motion by Council Vice-President Brady, seconded by Councilwoman Renzulli, it was voted to appoint Raymond Coia as Auxiliary Judge.  Motion passed on a vote of 8-0.  The following being recorded as voting “aye”:  Councilwoman Marino, Councilman Ferri, Councilwomen Renzulli, Germain, Councilmen Donegan, Reilly, Council Vice-President Brady and Council President Paplauskas -8.

 

            Council President Paplauskas congratulated both new members of the Court and noted that Attorney Moretti is on the call and asked the City Clerk to allow him into the meeting to be sworn in.  Council President Paplauskas swore in Attorney Moretti in as Municipal Court Associated Judge.

 

            Attorney Moretti thanked the Council Members for their support.

 

 

The meeting adjourned at 5:07 P.M.
