MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CUMBERLAND TOWN COUNCIL

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2020 AT 5:30 P.M.

VIRTUAL - CLOSED SESSION

 

The special meeting was called to order at 5:31p.m.   

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Council President Dwyer, Councilors Bradley, Kinch, Shaw, Beaulieu, Schmitt, and Gemski.

 

Also present – Mayor Jeffrey Mutter, Town Solicitor Kelley Morris Salvatore; Attorney Peter Skwirz; Water Superintendent Chris Champi

                   

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

VOTE BY OPEN CALL TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS ITEMS OF BUSINESS CITED IN R.I.G.L. SECTION §42-46-5 (a) (1-9)

 

A.     Discussion pertaining to potential litigation.  R.I.G.L. § 42-46-5(a)(2)

Bradley vs. Town of Cumberland, C.A. No. SU-2020-0063-A

 

B.     Discussions or considerations related to the acquisition and disposition of publicly held property wherein advanced public information would be detrimental to the interest of the public.  R.I.G.L. § 42-46-5(a)(5)

 

MOTION BY COUNCILOR BEAULIEU, SECONDED BY COUNCILORS SHAW & KINCH, AND IT IS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION BY A ROLL CALL.  VOTE 7/0.

Councilor Bradley remained in the Zoom waiting room for the first agenda item of the meeting and rejoined the meeting for the second agenda item. Water Superintendent Chris Champi also was in attendance for this portion of the meeting.           

MOTION BY COUNCILOR SHAW, SECONDED BY COUNCILOR SCHMITT, AND IT IS VOTED TO SEAL THE MINUTES BY A ROLL CALL.  VOTE 5/2.

Nay: Councilors Beaulieu and Bradley

 

ADJOURNMENT:

MOTION BY COUNCILOR SHAW, SECONDED BY COUNCILORS KINCH & SCHMITT, AND IT IS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO ADJOURN AT 7:30P.M. BY A ROLL CALL.  VOTE 7/0.
