MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CUMBERLAND TOWN COUNCIL
TUESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2023, at 5:30 P.M.
CUMBERLAND TOWN HALL, EVERETT “MOE” BONNER, JR. COUNCIL CHAMBERS
45 BROAD STREET, CUMBERLAND, RHODE ISLAND
The regular meeting was called to order at 5:30pm with a roll call of members.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Present: President Kinch, Councilors Bradley, Shaw, Magill, and Schmitt.
Councilor Beaulieu arrived at 5:37pm, after the first matter had been heard.
Absent: Councilor Metivier
Also present: Mayor Jeffrey J. Mutter
There were none.
A. LICENSES
SPECIAL EVENT ENTERTAINMENT LICENSE
1. An application for a special event entertainment license from Cumberland Public Library for a Summer Concert with Bill Harley on August 10, 2023 at the Monastery.
No one was present from the library. There were no public comments.
MOTION BY COUNCILOR SHAW, SECONDED BY COUNCILOR MAGILL, AND IT UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE. VOTE 5/0.
Councilor Beaulieu arrived.
2. An application for a special event entertainment license from New England Mountain Bike Association for the Diamond Hill Fun Ride on August 13, 2023 at Diamond Hill Park.
Dennis Wilson, President of the New England Mountain Bike Association, Rhode Island Chapter was present to answer any questions. Councilor Shaw asked about any potential noise. Mr. Wilson responded that there would be no food or music at the event, and that most of the event would take place in the part of the park on the opposite side of Diamond Hill, not the park itself. The park was needed primarily for parking.
MOTION BY COUNCILOR MAGILL, SECONDED BY COUNCILOR SHAW, AND IT UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE. VOTE 6/0.
3. An application for a special event entertainment license from the Cumberland Firefighters Local 2722 for a Touch A Truck event on August 27, 2023 at Diamond Hill Park.
Lieutenant Chris Smith from the Cumberland Fire District was present to answer any questions. There were none.
MOTION BY COUNCILOR MAGILL, SECONDED BY COUNCILOR SHAW, AND IT UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE. VOTE 6/0.
