CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Shaw calls the meeting to order at 7:30 pm

ACCEPTANCE OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

A.  Acceptance of Minutes of the regular meeting of February 5, 2025.

 

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER KINCH, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER MAGILL, AND IT UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE.  VOTE 7/0. 

 

OLD BUSINESS

A.  CLASS BV LICENSE-PUBLIC HEARING

1.   A transfer application from LMP Enterprises LLC d/b/a Adeline’s Speakeasy Bar & Grill to Sonomex Corporation d/b/a Juncal Mexican Grill & Bar, 2352 Mendon Road.

 

The public hearing opened at 7:30 p.m.

 

Joseph Raheb, the attorney for the applicant, stated that Sonomex recently converted to a Rhode Island entity, and its principal of Sonomex is Adriana Arnold.  Adriana is seeking a license transfer and is changing the restaurant to a genuine Mexican restaurant, not a Tex Mex.  They’ll be open Tuesday to Thursday, 11:30 am to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday, 11:30 am to 10 p.m., Sunday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and close on Monday.  Adriana has been in the restaurant business for many years.  She's had substantial experience in restaurants that serve alcohol, so she is well-suited for this operation.

Chairman Shaw inquired where the closest restaurant she's coming from.

Attorney Raheb replied Lexington, Massachusetts and before that, she was in Maynard.

 

The public hearing closed at 7:32 p.m.

 

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER KINCH, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER MAGILL, AND IT IS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE SUBJECT TO THE RECEIPT OF THE CERTIFICATE OF GOOD STANDING, INSURANCE CERTIFICATE, RETAIL SALES PERMIT, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BUSINESS LICENSE, AND FIRE INSPECTION APPROVAL.  VOTE 7/0.

 

B.  CLASS B NON-TRANSFERABLE LICENSE-PUBLIC HEARING

1.      An application for a Class B Non-Transferable license from Furna Restaurant Inc. d/b/a Furna Restaurant, 422 High Street.

 

The public hearing was opened at 7:33 p.m.

 

The applicant Alexandria Rodrigues and the property listing agent Beatrice Chiron were present.  Alexandria Rodrigues explained that she plans to be open seven days a week, from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.  The menu will have some traditional Portuguese and American food. 

Commissioner Kinch asked if she was currently in the restaurant business.  

Alexandrina stated that she has worked for her brother’s restaurant for twenty years.

The public hearing was closed at 7:37 p.m.

 

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER METIVIER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER KINCH, AND IT IS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF CERTIFICATE OF GOOD STANDING, INSURANCE CERTIFICATE, RETAIL SALES PERMIT, TIPS CERTIFICATION, FOOD SERV-SAFE CERTIFICATE, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUSINESS LICENSE, AND FIRE INSPECTION APPROVAL.  VOTE 7/0.

 

C.  CLASS BV LIMITED LICENSE (BEER & WINE ONLY) PUBLIC HEARING

1.   An application for a BV Limited License from APP Express, Inc. d/b/a Angelo’s Palace Pizza Express, 2339 Diamond Hill Road.

 

The public hearing was opened at 07:36 p.m.

The applicant, William Kitslis, stated he is seeking a beer and wine license for Saki’s Pizza location.  They plan to keep the same hours, and the same menu offered there; the only difference is they are going back to their original roots as when they opened in 1978.  It'll be self-serve with the beer and wine they used to have at Angelo's.  He noted it won't be a full-serve Angelo's, but they wanted the ability to offer beer, wine, or sangria while people dine-in with most takeout and delivery.  They want to be able to cover the rest of Cumberland for our delivery service, parts of Wrentham, Woonsocket, and North Attleboro.

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER METIVIER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONERS BEAULIEU AND BRADLEY, AND IT IS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPROVE SUBJECT TO THE RECEIPT OF THE RETAIL SALES PERMIT, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, AND FIRE INSPECTION APPROVAL.  VOTE 7/0.

 

NEW BUSINESS

A.  CLASS B NON-TRANSFERABLE LICENSE FOR PRESENTATION & PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE

1.   An application for a Class B Non-Transferable license from Ocean State Brewing Company d/b/a Phantom Farms Brewing, 30 Martin Street.
