No. 1 CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL:

The Work Session of the Exeter Town Council was called to order at 7:07 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Exeter Fire Station No. 1, 305 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, Rhode Island.

No. 2 FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022 BUDGET PREPARATION:

Revised Library Budget: After Council’s consideration of the Library Board’s initial budget, Council is presented with a revised proposed budget. Interim Assistant Director, Aimee Fontaine, and Library Board Member, Sheila Reynolds-Boothroyd, were present. Following consideration and discussion, the Operations Budget is increased. The Director’s Salary is reduced by $2005.00. Four of the five staff members’ hours are reduced and their hourly rates made the same. The five staff members are given a 2% increase, which is across the board in the budget for all the Town’s staff. It is proposed that Aimee Fontaine, Youth Services Librarian (acting Interim Library Director in the absence of a Library Director) remain Youth Services Librarian, be made Library Director’s Assistant, work full time, keep her benefits that she has received as Interim Director, and be given a 2% raise over her hourly rate as Youth Services Librarian, for a yearly salary of $41,769.00.

Budget Discussion: Council reviewed Draft No. 6 of the proposed budget. There were some changes made which will be reflected in the Public Hearing Budget on Thursday, May 6.
