WORK SESSION

 

APRIL 27, 2023

 

No.   1   PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

led Council and the Public in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

No.   2   CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL:

The Work Session of the Exeter Town

Council was called to order at 6:35 p.m., on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Council

Chambers, Exeter Clerk’s Office, 675 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, Rhode Island.

Also Present:               Kenneth G. Findlay, Council Assistant

                                    Lynn M. Hawkins, Town Clerk

                                    Maria Lawler, Town Treasurer

 

No.   3   FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024 BUDGET PREPARATION: 

Town Treasurer Maria Lawler distributed a revised budget reflecting the changes made by Council at its last budget meeting.  The Town has received its first Local Cannabis Excise Tax, which Ms. Lawler has added to the budget.  Rather than put $35,000.00 aside for changes needed to make changes to the zoning ordinances because of new State legislation, $15,000.00 will be put in the Planning Board’s operating budget to start the changes and the balance in a capital fund to complete them.

Salaries were reviewed and discussed.  Some were changed. 

                       

No.   4    OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES: 

 

Elections Administrator:  Town Clerk Lynn Hawkins was asked to direct the Board

of Canvassers Clerk to train the Elections Administrator fully in all aspects of Elections,

especially the running of an election.

 

Town Hall Septic Issues:  Work will begin on correcting the issues.

 

D. Lewis &Sons:  D. Lewis has sold to Eastern Waste Services who will be applying

to the Town for its own rubbish removal license.

 

No.   5     ADJOURNMENT:

 

MOTION made by Mr. Lefebvre to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Ms. DeFrancesco;

and voted unanimously in the affirmative.

 

The Work Session was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
