EXETER TOWN COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING

 

 APRIL 17, 2024

 

No.    1:             PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mr. Lefebvre led the Council and  Public in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

No.    2:             CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:

The Special Meeting of the Exeter Town Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the Exeter Public Library Program Room, 773 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, Rhode Island.

Also Present:       Kenneth G. Findlay, Council Assistant

                             Maria Lawer, Town Treasurer

 

No.   3:   FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025 BUDGET PREPARATION:

 

         A.   TOWN PLANNER’S DEPARTMENT-Town Planner requested to be moved to the

Special Meeting on April 29, 2024.

                     

         B.    EXETER PUBLIC LIBRARY- The Library budget was discussed with Tien Tran, Library Director.

                   

         C.    PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT-Rob Shappy, Director of Public Works, was

present.  Director Shappy presented the Council with the Department of Public Works Road and Capital Improvement Budgets. Director Shappy provided a detailed description of the methods utilized to maintain the town roads, sealing and sanding sources.

 

Director Shappy also submitted the Budget Proposals for the Animal Shelter and Transfer Station.  Both of these budgets were discussed with input from the Town Treasurer Maria Lawler.

 

Council reviewed the salaries and miscellaneous line items of Budget Draft 2.   

 

 

No.   4:   RI OFFICE OF ENERGY RESOURCES:  REQUEST FOR APPROVAL TO  PROCEED WITH GRANT APPLICATION FOR FUNDING TO SUPPORT  ENERGY EFFICIENCY

 

Council Assistant Findlay requested approval to apply for Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources

Grant funds for the new Town Hall energy efficiency

 

MOTION made by Ms. Allen to authorize the submission to the grant application; seconded by

Mr. Ellis; and voted unanimously in the affirmative. 

 

No.   5:   ADJOURNMENT: 

Motion made by Mr. Patterson to adjourn the Special Meeting at
9:03 p.m.; seconded by Mr. Lefebvre; and voted unanimously in the affirmative.
