The Johnston Town Council held a special meeting on August 22nd, 2023. at the Johnston Municipal Court, 1600 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919.
Council President Russo called the meeting to order at 6:31 P.M.
· Roll call
All Councilmembers were present. Also present were William J. Conley, Jr., Esq, Vincent P. Baccari, Jr., and Donna Dumont, stenographer
· Resolution 2023-41: A Resolution authorizing and approving an amendment to the Purchase and Sales Agreement dated May 17, 2023 between the Town and Tri-County Community Action Agency for the sale of the Calef School to Tri County
Solicitor Conley addressed the Council and discussed that the title company requested that an amendment be made to the legal description in the purchase and sales agreement
Councilman Carnevale made a motion to adopt Resolution 2023-41
The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Garzone
Motion carried; Vote 4-0 with Councilwoman Folcarelli recusing
2023-CP-127: Appointments to the Johnston Smithfield Juvenile Hearing Board

Councilwoman Garzone made a motion to appoint Steven Mandarelli to the Juvenile Hearing Board
The motion was seconded by Councilman Carnevale
Motion carried; Vote 5-0
2023-CP-137 Annual Renewal of Town Bingo Licenses for Year 2023-2024
Councilman Civetti made a motion to grant 2023-CP-137
The motion was seconded by Councilman Carnevale
Motion carried; Vote 5-0
2023-CP-139 District 5 Appointment to the Charter Review Commission
Councilwoman Garzone made a motion to appoint Karen Clark to the Charter Review Commission for District 5
The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Folcarelli
Motion carried; Vote 3-1 with Councilman Civetti voting no and Councilman Carnevale Recusing
2023-CP-140 District 5 Appointment to the Senior Citizens Advisory Board
Councilwoman Garzone made a motion to appoint Jacqueline Grasso to the District 5 position on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board
The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Folcarelli and Councilman Carnevale
Motion carried; Vote 5-0
Adjournment
Councilman Carnevale made a motion to adjourn the meeting
The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Garzone
Motion carried; Vote 5-0
The meeting adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
