PLANNING BOARD MINUTES

Parking and Use Table Subcommittee

January 5, 2021 – 2:00 p.m.

Town Hall, 350 East Main Rd., Middletown, RI, 2^nd Floor Conference Room

Members present: Bill Nash, Joe Pierik, Art Weber

Members absent: John Ciummo

Others present: Ron Wolanski, Town Planner; Rita Lavoie, Principal Planner

1.       Review and discuss possible amendments to the Middletown Zoning Ordinance, Section 602 - schedule of district regulations, uses and districts, and Article 13 - off-street parking and loading.

a.       Ms. Lavoie reviewed the previous work done by the committee. And additional proposed revisions, including the removal of lighting restrictions given the recent adoption of lighting regulations as an amendment to the zoning ordinance. It was decided to retain the parking requirement for hotels as current listed in the draft (4 spaces plus 1 per room).

b.      Regarding commercial outdoor recreation, it was decided to revise the draft to eliminate the parking requirement for tennis/other court games.

c.       Other amendments made to the draft since the previous meeting were agreed to.

d.      By consensus the subcommittee decided to forward the revised draft to the full Planning Board for consideration.

e.       Meeting adjourned by consensus at 2:45pm
