1.   Discuss and act on potential litigation regarding wall constructed on town property (Plat 3, Lot 128). This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a)(2) sessions pertaining to litigation or reasonably anticipated litigation.

 

2.   Discuss and act on potential litigation regarding High View Lane emergency sewer repairs. This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a)(2) sessions pertaining to litigation or reasonably anticipated litigation.

 

3.   Discuss and act negotiations between International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Local 720 (representing members of New Shoreham Police Department) and Town of New Shoreham. This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a) (2) Sessions pertaining to collective bargaining or litigation, or work sessions pertaining to collective bargaining or litigation.

7.   Discuss and vote to fill the seat of Second Warden from among the sitting Town Council.

 

8.   Discuss and act on filling vacant Town Council Seat.

 

9.   Act to set public hearing date for proposed amendments to the New Shoreham Zoning Ordinance to address laws enacted during the RI General Assembly 2023 legislative session, specifically, §45-24-42, §45-24-46.4, §45-24-47, §45-24-49, §45-24-37, and include specific and objective criteria for special use permits, unified development review, adaptive reuse, technical review committee, development plan review, and modifications. §114. Permitted Uses (new section) § 401. General Criteria for Special Use Permits (amended) § 418 Earth Removal (amended) § 604 Technical Review Committee (new section) § 703 Procedures for Special Use Permit (amended) § 704 Development Plan Review (amended) § 705 Modification Permits (amended) §713. Unified Development Review (new section) §714. Land Development Projects (new section).

 

10. Act to set public hearing date for proposed amendments to the New Shoreham Zoning Ordinance to sections of the Zoning Ordinance (Sections 108, 111, 202, Article 3, 403, 404, 405, 502, 509, 510, 511, 513, 514, 518) related to Accessory Dwelling Units. The purpose of amendments are to offer an expedited approval process for accessory dwelling units, provide clarification on existing policies, bring consistency to terminology, and make compliant with state law.

 

11. Discuss and act on 2024 dates for Blues on the Block concert series at Fred Benson Town Beach July 3rd, July 17th, July 31st, August 7, August 14th and August 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

12. Discuss and act on requests of Maryann Matthews:

a.   Support a Resolution requesting the RI Legislature correct the Manissean Tribal History

b.   The Town identify the boundaries of, preserve and formally record the “Colored Cemetery.”

 

13. Receive report from Land Use Attorney Kerin Browning regarding e-bike tours.

 

14. Receive and discuss update from Town Engineer, Jim Geremia regarding: Fred Benson Beach parking lot and other engineering projects.

 

15. Discuss and act on Resolution in support of Juneteenth.

 

16. Discuss and act on conversations with Orsted regarding windfarm development negotiations.

 

17. Discuss and act on the contract for Chief of Police Paul Deane

 

18. Discuss and act on the contract between the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Local 720 (representing members of New Shoreham Police Department) and the Town of New Shoreham

 

19. Receive update on governance of the Island-wide Broadband.

 

20. Discuss and act on letter of support for aquaculture infrastructure grant.
