1.   Discuss negotiations between RI Council 94 AFSCME, AFL-CIO Local 2855 New Shoreham Employee’s Association and Town of New Shoreham and New Shoreham School Committee. This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a) (2) Sessions pertaining to collective bargaining or litigation, or work sessions pertaining to collective bargaining or litigation.

 

2.   Receive report from Land Use Attorney Kerin Browning re: 1167 Grace’s Cove Road, LLC. Plat 19, Lot 72-1. Fire# 1167 Grace’s Cove Road. Appeal filed by John and Sharon Lehman for a letter dated August 8, 2023 from the Zoning Official regarding a complaint filed regarding Lamb’s Package Service; this item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a) (2) sessions pertaining to litigation.

 

3.   Discuss and act on litigation, Town of New Shoreham v. Empire Productions Inc. (WC-2023-0288), including temporary and permanent injunctive relief; this item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a) (2) sessions pertaining to litigation.

 

4.   Discuss and act on litigation, Re: Ballards Inn Realty, LLC; CRMC Violation 2023-0101, 42 Water Street, Plat 7, Lot 23;this item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to RI General Laws 42-46-5(a) (2) sessions pertaining to litigation or reasonably anticipated litigation.

5.   Meet with representatives from Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County and Tri-County Community Action to discuss their programs and opportunities to meet needs of Block Island residents

 

6.   Acknowledge and honor New Shoreham Volunteer EMT Jordan Ryan as the RI 2024 Volunteer EMS Practitioner of the Year

 

7.   Hold public hearing and discuss and act on New Shoreham General Ordinance Chapter 17 Taxation and Finance, Article I In General. Section 17.1 Property Tax Classification (Homestead Exemption)

 

8.   Discuss and act to set the amount of a homestead exemption

 

9.   Discuss and act on request for a Special Temporary Permit of VVO Real Estate Holding, LLC Plat 6, Lot 107, under Section 112 of the Zoning Ordinance, to maintain the current configuration of storage trailers and tents and install screening faux ivy or banners depicting proposed construction of the Harborside Inn.

 

10. Discuss and act on request from the Sea Level Rise Committee asking the Town Council to send a letter to the RI legislature in support of Senate and House bills S2928A & H8148 regarding reform to the Coastal Resources Management Council
