CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Pursuant to Section 2-17 of the City Charter of the City of Newport, a Special Meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 5:00 p.m., City Hall, Council Chambers, 43 Broadway, Newport, R.I.

The following items of business, filed with the City Clerk under the Rules of the Council, came before the Council at a Special Meeting of the Council held on March 29, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.

The DEPUTY CITY CLERK called the Roll and the following members were present:

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY MANAGER

1.       Action Item #6138/23 – RE:  Award of Bid # 23-032 – Road Improvement Program 2023 (w/accompanying resolution)- continued from March 22, 2023

COUNCILOR CEGLIE moved to receive the communication and adopt the accompanying resolution.  SECONDED by COUNCILOR NAPOLITANO.  Discussion occurred among the Council.  Director of Public Services William Riccio responded to questions from the Council regarding selection of roads for paving, scheduling, funding, and operations.  CITY MANAGER NICHOLSON addressed questions regarding state funding.  The motion to adopt was VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.
