MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING

Pursuant to Section 2-17 of the City Charter of the City of Newport, a Special Meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday, May 1, 2023 at 5:30 p.m., City Hall, Council Chambers, 43 Broadway, Newport, R.I.
The CITY CLERK called the Roll and the following members were present:

1. Requesting the General Assembly to adopt and ratify a proposed amendment to Section 44-5-76.2 of the General Laws of Rhode Island entitled “Newport – Property tax classification” concerning establishing effective tax rates for Class 2 owner occupied and non-owner occupied properties.
COUNCILOR CEGLIE introduced the resolution and moved for its passage. Seconded by COUNCILOR NAPOLITANO and VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.
2. Requesting the R.I. General Assembly to amend §44-5-76.1 of the General Laws entitled “Newport – Property tax classification - List of ratable property”
COUNCILOR CEGLIE introduced the resolution and moved for its passage. Seconded by COUNCILOR NAPOLITANO and VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.
