The following items of business, filed with the City Clerk under the Rules of the Council will come before the Council at a Special Meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840

          Consideration of request for support from the Newport Public School Department’s implementation of its Fiscal Recovery and Structural Realignment Plan for Fiscal Years 2026, 2027 and 2028.

1.     Receipt of Memorandum from Jim Nolan, Finance Director to Colin Kennedy, City Manager dated May 22, 2026 in response to Newport Public Schools’ FY 2026- FY 2029 Fiscal Recovery Plan.

2.     Resolution addressing the Newport Public Schools projected Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Deficit of Approximately $2.8 million.

3.     Resolution addressing the Newport Public Schools projected Further Funding Needs for Fiscal Year 2027 and the continued actions to be taken by the Newport Public Schools for Fiscal Years 2028 and thereafter.
