IN RE:             PAWTUCKET WATER SUPPLY BOARD

GENERAL RATE FILING

 

DOCKET NO. 2674

 

WHEREAS: On December 30, 1997, the Pawtucket Water Supply Board (the "Company") a public utility subject to the provisions of Title 39 of the General Laws, as amended, filed with the Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") a proposal to change rate schedules to collect additional operating revenues in the amount of approximately $3.6 million or 45%  [1 Docketed on January 9, 1998.]; and

 

WHEREAS: The Company seeks approval to spend approximately $2.0 million for its infrastructure replacement program in the rate year, with an automatic increase of an additional $1.0 million the following year, $1.55 million for debt service requirements, $198,000 for a new vehicle replacement program, and funding for salary increases and adding one staff position; and

 

WHEREAS: The Company proposes to change the current rate design from a two-step declining block rate structure to a single flat rate for all its customers; and

 

WHEREAS: The Commission is of the opinion that the public's interest requires that an investigation be made of the proposal and that hearings be scheduled; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS

 

(15531) ORDERED:

 

That the Public Utilities Commission on its motion and pursuant to the provisions of Section 39-3-11 of the General Laws, as amended, hereby suspends the effective date of the above filing for a period of six (6) months beyond February 8, 1998.
