REPORT AND ORDER
By application filed with the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, Cesar Ventura, dba: Dominican Taxi, Inc., 6 Academy, Providence, RI 02909, seeks to increase his taxicab certificate MC-T-304 from one taxicab to five taxicabs to operate in Providence, Cranston and T. F. Green Airport, Warwick, RI.
APPEARANCE: Stephen T. Voccola, Esq., for the Applicant
Cesar Ventura, owner of Dominican Taxi testified that with one taxicab he is unable to answer all the calls he gets for taxi service.
Jose Nunez testified that he owns a business in Providence and he has to make many calls for Spanish speaking people who want to take a cab. He said many times these people have to wait a long time for service because there are not enough taxicabs to serve the Hispanic population in the Providence area. The Division has determined that the testimony establishes a public convenience and necessity.
There were no Protestants to this application.
Accordingly, it is
1. That the application submitted by Cesar Ventura, dba: Dominican Taxi, Inc., 6 Academy Avenue, Providence, RI 02908 to increase his taxicab operation from one taxicab to five taxicabs is hereby granted.
2. That the approval and granting of the instant application is subject to Cesar Ventura hand delivering to this office within sixty (60) days from the date of this order, the following documentation:
a) inspection of vehicles at the State Garage,
b) proof of meter calibration,
3) registration of the additional vehicles to be operated under the authority granted herein.
