IN RE: APPLICATION FOR AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE
LOCAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES FILED
BY LOG ON AMERICA, INC.

ORDER
WHEREAS, On July 12, 1996, the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") adopted guidelines and entry requirements for Competitive Local Exchange Carrier ("CLEC") seeking authorization to provide local exchange service in Rhode Island [1 Commission Report and Order No. 15040 in Docket No. 2411.]; and
WHEREAS, On September 15, 1998, Log on America, Inc. ("Company") filed with the Commission an application seeking authority to operate as a facility based CLEC in Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, On September 30, 1998, after examination, the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers ("Division") filed a memorandum indicating that the Company complied with the filing requirements necessary to obtain authorization to operate as a facility based CLEC, and therefore, endorsed the application; and
WHEREAS, The Commission is of the opinion that the application is proper, reasonable and in the interest of the ratepayers, and hereby grant the Company authorization to operate as a facility based CLEC;
Accordingly, it is
1) That Log On America, Inc. is hereby granted authorization to operate as a facility based Competitive Local Exchange Carrier in Rhode Island.
2) That the proposed intrastate tariffs are hereby approved effective October 15, 1998.
3) That the Company shall send registered notification to the Commission and Division when actual operation commences in Rhode Island.
EFFECTIVE AT PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND ON OCTOBER 6, 1998, PURSUANT TO OPEN MEETING DECISION.
