Order 15711 - Pawt. Water Supply Board: General Rate Case

PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION

COMPLIANCE ORDER

On January 9, 1998, the Pawtucket Water Supply Board ("Board") filed with the Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") a rate change application seeking a general increase of $3,634,020 or 45.05%. The Commission authorized a revenue increase of $614,430 or 7.51% Order No. 15664 issued August 3, 1998.

On September 4, 1998, the Board filed its compliance tariffs and supporting prefiled testimony. Revised compliance tariffs were filed on September 18 and 28, 1998.

The Division of Public Utilities and Carriers ("Division"), a party in the rate case, reviewed the Board's compliance tariff submissions. In a memorandum filed with the Commission on September 28, 1998, the Division declares the Board's September 28, 1998 revised compliance tariffs to be in compliance with the Commission's August 3, 1998 final report and order. The Division consequently recommends approval.

The Commission has examined the compliance record in this docket, and finds that the Board's September 28, 1998 revised tariffs, filed to implement a rate increase in the amount of $614,430, are reasonable and in compliance with Order No. 15664, supra.

Accordingly, it is

(15711) ORDERED:

1. That the Pawtucket Water Supply Board's revised compliance tariff of September 28, 1998 is hereby approved for consumption on and after July 17, 1998.  [1 July 17, 1998 represents the effective date of the rate increase, as memorialized in an open meeting decision of the same date.]

2. The approved tariffs are attached to this Order and incorporated by reference.

EFFECTIVE AT PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND ON SEPTEMBER 29, 1998 PURSUANT TO AN OPEN MEETING DECISION. WRITTEN ORDER ISSUED ON OCTOBER 19, 1998.
