In re:    Jones Moving & Storage, LLC. (MC-45)

59 Central Street

Providence, RI 02907

Docket No. 26 MC 14

Report & Order

WHEREAS: On February 13, 2026, Jones Moving & Storage, Inc. (“Jones”), of 59 Central Street, Providence, Rhode Island, a motor carrier subject to the provisions of R.I.G.L. §39-12-12, submitted a new tariff and rates for its household goods moving service provided through its operating certificate MC-45.

WHEREAS: Jones seeks through the instant filing to increase its weekday hourly rate for each truck (and a driver) to $74.00 per hour and its weekday hourly rate for each additional laborer to $53.00 per hour. The tariff submission provides for similar increases on weekends as well. Precisely, Jones seeks to increase its Saturday rate and weekday Overtime rate (after 5:00 p.m.) to $100.00 per truck, per hour and its laborer rate to $65.00 per hour. Moreover, Jones proposes to increase its Sunday, Holiday and Saturday Overtime rate to $110.00 per hour for a truck, and $65.00 per hour for a laborer.

WHEREAS: The instant filing indicates that Jones seeks to increase its hourly rates because of increased costs of its Worker’s Compensation Insurance, labor costs, and other increased operating expenses. The Division acknowledges that Jones has not sought a rate increase since 2016.

WHEREAS: The instant filing does not contain a proposed effective date, as required by R.I.G.L. §39-12-12. Inasmuch as R.I.G.L. §39-12-12 requires that no new tariff rate change may go into effect with less than 30 days public notice, the Division finds it reasonable to establish a proper effective date. Thirty days from the filing date is Sunday, March 15, 2026. Accordingly, the Division shall establish the next business day (Monday, March 16, 2026) as the effective date.

WHEREAS: The Division of Public Utilities and Carriers has reviewed the rates proposed in said tariff filing and finds said rates reasonable and in line with rates previously approved for other intrastate household goods carriers in Rhode Island.

Now, therefore,

It is Ordered (  25611  ):

That the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers pursuant to the provisions of R.I.G.L. §39-12-12 hereby approves the February 13, 2026, tariff submission of Jones Moving & Storage, LLC, effective March 15, 2026.

DATED AND EFFECTIVE AT WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND, THIS 16th DAY OF FEBRUARY 2026.
