The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to David Clemente, Chair, Charter Review Commission, requesting that the Commission take a look at section 8-203 of the City Charter to consider an amendment which would allow employees of the city to be members of the boards or commissions of the city on a volunteer basis.  The Council noted that there are many employees who are willing to volunteer their time to serve on these boards and commissions, without compensation, and without causing a conflict with their employment.

 

The Council believes that a change should be considered to this section to allow this type of activity.

The hours will be 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

He can fit 50 cars on the lot for sale, and 4-5 cars for repair.

 

There will be six employees.

 

There will be no towing, body work or painting.

 

The lot will be fenced in after closing.  There will be no need for parking on a side street.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to James Condon, Acting Fire Chief,  and William Noonan, Public Safety Director, to ask that they cite William Mulholland for authorizing burning in Slater Park, in violation of the fire codes of the city.

 

The Council became aware that burning was taking place to remove debris from the park with the authorization of Mr. Mulholland.  The Council is also asking that Mr. Condon inform Mr. Mulholland that he must cease and desist this activity immediately.

THE CHAIR REGNIEZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Moran, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Mayor Robert E. Metivier, to ask that he instruct the planning department to attend the Business Expo over the next couple of days to see the booths that other cities have set up to display the advantages of their communities.

 

The Council would like the planning department to determine if they can do something similar at this Business Expo; or if not, get some ideas for the city to do at the next year=s Expo.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Bray, the meeting is adjourned at nine fifty-six o=clock p.m.
