City Council, June 7, 2000

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at eight o’clock p.m., at Jenks Jr. High School, Media Center, Division Street, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

President Barry presides.

 

The reading of the records of May 24, 25, & 30, 2000, are dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Clemente, on behalf of Council President Barry, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication the Mayor James E. Doyle and Francis P. Crawley, Director of Administration, asking for the following information regarding the Affirmative Action Plan for the City:

 

1.  A complete report on the number of minorities who applied during the most recent period that recruitment applications were being accepted for both the police and fire departments.

2.  Updated ethnic listing of the number of employees in city government from 1998 to present.

3.  Percentage of time Angel Garcia, Personnel Director, spends in the role of Affirmative Action Director, as defined in the Affirmative Action Plan.

 

A response is requested in time for the June 21, 2000, City Council meeting.
