A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 8:20 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Kinch, Councilors Barros, Barry, Chadwick, Hodge, Moran, Tetreault and Vitali.

Mr. Shekarchi states that his client has been in business at the current location for two years. He assumed that mechanical work could be done at this location, like the former owners did.

 

Hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for gas; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for garage service, Monday thru Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

Mr. Bazerj states that he does mechanical work himself and employs two people.

Speaking in favor is the applicant, Corey McNulty, 57 Marne Street, Johnston, RI.

 

Mr. McNulty opened his business as a tow and recovery service about a year ago.

 

Ninety-eight percent of his business is repossession. He sells vehicles wholesale or on the lot.

 

Mr. McNulty would like an auto repair license.

 

His business is located at the intersection of Sabin and Japonica Streets. There are mostly three family homes as abutters and a commercial building behind the business.

 

Mr. McNulty keeps a maximum of twelve vehicles on the lot; he holds cars on the lot for 24-72 hours so people can redeem them.

 

Mr. McNulty does repairs indoors.

 

Speaking in opposition is Michael Horan, Esq. 393 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI

 

Mr. Horan represents the property owners where PNC is located, an abutter who is in opposition to the application.

 

Mr. Horan believes that auto repairs are being done there now.

4.   The grounds of the property will be cleaned and maintained and all debris from building renovations, surplus wood, rocks, and unused vehicles and trucks shall be removed within 30 days.

5.   All emissions from the building must  be properly controlled in accordance with all applicable regulations.

6.   No buildings or structures of any kind may be erected on the property without prior City Council approval.
