A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 7:22 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, DaRosa, Gregor, Mercer, Schuette, Stachowiak, Vasquez and Wildenhain.

The reading of the records of the October 19, 2022 City Council, City Property Committee and Finance Committee meetings are dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor DaRosa, seconded by Councilor Mercer, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank Milos, City Solicitor, requesting his consideration of using additional resources, such as outside attorneys, in an effort to resolve active cases, especially smaller cases, more quickly. Councilor DaRosa noted, after reading the latest annual report, that there are cases that have been ongoing for years.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR STACHOWIAK

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Stachowiak, seconded by Councilor DaRosa, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Dylan Zelazo, Director of Administration, to ask if the administration has any ideas for permanent options to reduce speeding on Power Road.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor DaRosa, seconded by Councilor Mercer, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Tina Goncalves, Chief of Police, requesting the police department to be more pro-active in preventing speeding within the city and especially at the city’s borders. The Council suggests asking the State Police for assistance and contacting other cities and towns that have been successful in controlling speeding on their streets to get ideas that may be helpful in Pawtucket.
