City Council, August 23, 2023

 

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council was held Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 12:17 p.m., in the City Council Office, Room 303, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Mercer, Councilors Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilors Araujo and Stachowiak.

 

President Mercer presided.

 

 

The reading of the records of the August 9, 2023 City Council meeting, the Committee on Claims and Pending Suits meeting, the Finance Committee meeting and the Joint Finance Committee and Committee of the Whole meeting was dispensed with and the records were APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Moreno, the *Consent Agenda was APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

            F.      AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 410 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, ENTITLED “ZONING CHANGE IN OFFICIAL ZONING MAP (Historic District – Add 28 Dorset Road – AP 64, Lot 801) WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AND REFERRED TO THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE AND A PUBLIC HEARING WAS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 20, 2023.

           

            G.     Memorandum from Carl Johnson, Zoning Director, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council (Tattoo parlors, Permanent Makeup Salons, and Micropigmentation Clinics) WAS REFERRED TO THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE.

           

            H.     AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 410 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, ENTITLED “ZONING” (Text and Official Maps) – (TABLE OF USE – Tattoo) WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AND REFERRED TO THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE AND A PUBLIC HEARING WAS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 20, 2023.

           

            I.       AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 360 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET, 1996, ENTITLED “TATTOO PARLORS” (Exemption from Maximum Number of Licenses) WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AND REFERRED TO THE LICENSING COMMITTEE.

           

            J.      THE FOLLOWING CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY WAS REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS AND PENDING SUITS:

Dr. Jennifer A. Sarkas – $357.00 (Pothole)

           

            K.     THE FOLLOWING CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY WAS REFERRED TO THE LAW DEPARTMENT AND RI INTERLOCAL TRUST:

Sara Ann Kulczycki by Toni Wagner – $10,000.00 (Flood)

           

 

UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE, THE FOLLOWING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WAS RATIFIED ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:

 

AYES – President Mercer, Councilors Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, and Wildenhain

 

NOES – 0.

 

3          Contract between the Pawtucket School Committee and the Pawtucket Teachers’ Alliance, Local 930, A.F.T., A.F.L.-C.I.O., for the period beginning September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2026.

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by the entire City Council, the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 PM.
