A special session of the Pawtucket City Council was held Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 6:24 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Mercer; Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Stachowiak, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Rubio.
President Mercer presided.
591 Communication from Terrence E. Mercer, Council President, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council, calling a special session of the City Council on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 5:40 p.m. WAS READ AND ORDERED FILED.
UPON RECOMMENDATION FROM THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE, THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE WAS READ AND PASSED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:
AYES – President Mercer; Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Stachowiak, and Wildenhain.
NOES – 0.
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE X OF CHAPTER 50 AND AMENDING ARTICLE VI OF CHAPTER 63 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, REGARDING THE SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.
UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE, THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT TO THE ORDINANCE ENTITLED “AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 388 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET, 1996, ENTITLED “VEHICLES & TRAFFIC” (Tidewater Stadium Zone Parking)” WAS TAKEN UP:
PROPOSED AMENDMENT:
Addition of § 388-69 Stadium Zone delineated.
B. The Public Safety Director, after consultation with the Public Works Director, may expand the Stadium Zone and add streets as the City deems necessary to safeguard the public health, safety and welfare.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZED COUNCILOR MORAN.
Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Coderre, the Ordinance submitted the following amendment to the proposed amendment:
Addition of § 388-69 Stadium Zone delineated.

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Coderre, the amendment to the proposed amendment was APPROVED on a roll call vote, as follows:

AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 388 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET, 1996, ENTITLED “VEHICLES & TRAFFIC” (Tidewater Stadium Zone Parking), AS AMENDED.
COUNCIL PRESIDENT MERCER NOTED THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST MEETING HELD IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT ROOSEVELT AVENUE FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. BEGINNING WITH THE NEXT MEETING ON APRIL 9, 2025, THE COUNCIL MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT 100 FREIGHT STREET.
Upon motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilors Moran and Moreno, the meeting was adjourned at 6:50 PM.
