STATE OF RHODE ISLAND, COUNTY OF NEWPORT
The Town Council of the Town of Tiverton, County and State aforesaid held a Special Council Meeting on
Monday, June 6, 2022, at 7:00 PM at the Tiverton Town Hall, 343 Highland Road.
Council President deMedeiros called the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
Council President deMedeiros turned the meeting over to Council Vice President Burk and left the meeting.

Council Vice President Burk, Councilor Janick, Councilor Cook, Council Edwards and Councilor Vieira
Absent
Council President deMedeiros and Councilor Perry
Solicitor Marcello, Labor Attorney Cavazza, Town Administrator Cotta and Town Clerk Chabot were also present.
A. RIGL 42-46-5(a)(2) Collective Bargaining – Update on IAFF Local 1703 negotiations, arbitration, and
potential tentative agreement
Councilor Vieira motioned to enter Executive Session pursuant to RIGL 42-46-5(a)(2) Collective Bargaining – Update on IAFF Local 1703 negotiations, arbitration, and potential tentative agreement. Councilor Edwards seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Council entered closed executive session at approximately 7:06 p.m.
Council President deMedeiros returned to the meeting in closed executive session.
Council returned to open session at approximately 8:07 p.m.
Councilor Burk motioned to seal the minutes of the Executive Session. Councilor Cook seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Solicitor Marcello reported that in executive session there was a general discussion about the proposals and the state of arbitration that the town was in. No votes were taken except to seal the minutes.
A. Town Administrator – Discussion and possible vote on tentative agreement for IAFF Local 1703 contract as negotiated by the Town Administrator
Councilor Burk motioned to approve the agreement between IAFF Local 1703 and the Town of Tiverton for a period starting July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025 and direct the Council President to sign on our behalf. Councilor Janick seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilor Burk motioned to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Councilor Janick, the motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
