STATE OF RHODE ISLAND, COUNTY OF NEWPORT

The Town Council of the Town of Tiverton, County, and State aforesaid held a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Tiverton Town Hall, 343 Highland Road.

1. CALL TO ORDER

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG

Council President Edwards V called the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

3. ROLL CALL

Craig R. Committo

Absent

Blake B. Hayden                                              


Labot Counsel Cavazza and Clerk Chabot were also present.

 

4. EXECUTIVE SESSION

                A. Council President – R.I.G.L. 42-46-5(a)(1) – Discussions of Job Performance, Character, or Physical or

     Mental Health of a Person or Persons Provided that Such Person or Persons Affected May Require the

     Discussion Be Held in Open Session – Interview Town Administrator Candidate – Notice given

 

Council President Edwards V motioned to go into Executive Session for agenda item 4-A. Councilor deMedeiros seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed.

 

The council entered a closed executive session at approximately 5:01 p.m.

 

The Council returned to open session at approximately 5:59 p.m.

 

Councilor Paull motioned to seal the minutes of Executive Session. Councilor deMedeiros seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed.

 

Council President Edwards V reported that no votes were taken for agenda item 4-A.

 

5. OPEN SESSION

                A. Discussion and possible vote to authorize the Council President and Special Labor Counsel to

     negotiate an employment contract for Town Administrator to be later ratified by the Town Council.

 

Councilor deMedeiros motioned to authorize the Council President and Special Labor Counsel to negotiate an employment contract for the Town Administrator pursuant to discussion in Executive Session. Councilor Committo seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed.

 

6. ADJOURNMENT

Councilor Paull motioned to adjourn the meeting. Councilor deMedeiros seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
