STATE OF RHODE ISLAND, COUNTY OF NEWPORT
The Town Council of the Town of Tiverton, County, and State aforesaid held a Special Council Meeting on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Tiverton Senior Center, 207 Canonicus Street, Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878.
Council President Edwards V called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Solicitor Marcello, Administrator Jones, Town Clerk Chabot, and Deputy Clerk Veegh were also present.
A. Town Administrator Jones – R.I. Gen. Laws § 42-46-5(a)(2) to discuss and potentially vote on matters
related to collective bargaining
Councilor Edwards V motioned to enter into Executive Session for agenda item 4-A. Seconded by Councilor deMedeiros, the motion passed unanimously.
The Council entered a closed executive session at approximately 6:05 p.m.
The Council returned to open session at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Councilor Burk motioned to seal the minutes of Executive Session. Councilor Paull seconded the motion. The motion passed 5-1-1, with Councilor Committo opposed and Councilor deMedeiros absent.
Solicitor Marcello reported that the council had a discussion regarding the health care plan related to town employees. After much debate and consultation with labor counsel, Attorney Cavazza, the council voted 5-1-1 to continue the health care coverage as is, with Council President Edwards V opposed and Councilor Burk abstained.
A. Review, discussion, and possible vote on the Proposed FY27 Expenditure Budget for all Municipal
Departments
Councilors discussed the proposed budget for the following departments: Police, Fire, DPW, Senior Center, Economic Development Commission, Boards and Commissions, Civic Appropriations, Library, Parks and Recreation, Tax Collection, Planning Board, Zoning Board, Land Use, Town Clerk, Town Council, Administrator, and Legal
No votes were taken.
The remaining municipal proposed budget items (Debt Service, Town Clerk, Town Hall, Town Administrator, Tax Assessor, Treasurer, etc.) will be discussed at the council meeting of May 7, 2026
Councilor Burk motioned to adjourn the meeting. Councilor Paull seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously passed. The meeting adjourned at 9:44 p.m.
