Board Members Present: D. Farnworth, E. Pavao, M. DeCotis, D. Pallasch, Dr. Larkin

Administrators Present: Dr. Sanchioni, Assistant Superintendent S. Kraeger, B. Andrade, S. Craven, A. Donnelly Roche

1.    Approve Meeting Minutes

a.    Regular Session Minutes September 9, 2024 & September 24, 2024

b.    Executive Session Minutes September 9, 2024, & September 24, 2024, accept and close the executive session minutes and seal the same pursuant to RIGL 42-26-4 and 42-46-5.

c.    Policy Subcommittee Minutes August 27, 2024

·         M. DeCotis made a motion to approve the consent agenda

·         Seconded by Dr. Larkin

·         Vote was unanimous

 

  III.        NEW BUSINESS — CONSIDERATION AND VOTE TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING

1.    Discuss and Approve the THS Band trip to New York

·         E. Pavao motioned to approve the THS Band trip to New York

·         Seconded by Dr. Larkin

·         The vote was unanimous to approve.

2.    Administrator Goals

·         Danny Andrade, Tech Director, presented four goals

o   3 yr Plan Submitted to RIDE by May 1st, 2025

o   1 to 1 Devices for upcoming students provided in part by grants

o   Safety and Security field cameras, Raptor visitor management at TMS

o   ERate fund to utilize the funding for MDF IDF connections

·         Sarah Kraeger

o   Provide a free, appropriate education in the least restrictive environment for every student requiring special education services, ages 3 – 22

o   Support Tiverton Public Schools programs and goals with special education services and other student services programming.

o   We will continue to close the gap ( academic and functional) by maintaining and improving the quality of our special education programs, providing a continuum of services for grades Pre-K to 12, and providing transition services.

o   Build and maintain effective partnerships with families and other community stakeholders.

o   Closeout FY24

o   Multiple Audit Compliance (Ongoing)

o   Ad-Hoc Reporting for Budget to Actual Format (FY25)

o   Proactive Engagement with TPS Leadership (FY25)

o   Solutions to Close the Structural Deficit (FY26 Preparation)

o   FY26 Budget Development (Ongoing)

3.    Capital Allocation

·         Last Monday, the Town Council approved the school capital request. Items have been ordered and will be in place as soon as they arrive. The Board thanks the Town for the $799,000.00 approval of the capital funds.

·         D. Farnworth requested that the board be aware of the spending as the costs of the items begin to come in.

 

Dr. Larkin motioned to Table Items 4, 5, and 6. Items were not redlined

Seconded by D. Patlasch

The vote was 5 - 0

 

4.    Discuss and Approve Policy #310 “Fiscal Management” (First Read) — Dr. Sanchioni

5.    Discuss and Approve Policy #331 “Budget Statement” (First Read) — Dr. Sanchioni

6.    Discuss and Approve Policy #332 “Spending Plan” (First Read) — Dr. Sanchioni

 

  IV.        FUTURE MEETINGS

1.    Consider and schedule future School committee dates.

November 12, 2024

 

   V.        EXECUTIVE SESSION

·         Dr. Larkin made a motion to move into executive session under RIGL 42-46-5(a)(1) (Job performance, character, physical or mental health)

·         M. DeCotis seconded the motion

·         The vote was unanimous

 

  VI.        ADJOURNMENT

·         D. Pallash motioned to adjourn the meeting

·         Dr. Larkin seconded the motion

·         Vote was unanimous
