a.    Principal Craven — RI Secondary Principal of the Year Award

·         Dr. Sanchioni proudly recognized Principal Craven for receiving the prestigious Rhode Island Secondary Principal of the Year Award. This annual honor celebrates exceptional leadership and dedication in secondary education. Congratulations, Principal Craven, on this well-deserved recognition!

b.    Student Spotlight- Carson Scholar Award

·         Nora Winslow was awarded the prestigious Carson Scholar Award and a $1,000.00 college scholarship.. Students must attend an accredited K-12 school in the United States, and each nominee must epitomize academic excellence and have a minimum GPA of 3.75

c.    Student Spotlight- Hobey Baker Award

·         Nick Gilkeson was selected as the recipient of the Hobey Baker Award 2025. The award designates the recipients as individuals with the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which was created to promote amateur hockey in the United States by recognizing individuals who embody the legacy of Hobey Baker

d.    Student Spotlight —- HOSA Competition

·         Cassidy Rich and Faith Ellis, two CNA CTE students, earned 1st place in Rhode Island’s statewide HOSA competition. “HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.

4.    General Business — Consideration and Possible Votes

a.    Superintendent Search Update & Survey Results

·         V. Mercuiro, NESDEC representative for the Tiverton superintendent search, updated the board with the next steps of the process.

·         V. Mercuiro presented a Successful Candidate Profile to the board for review and vote. Once this is voted on, this profile will be presented to the board and the successful candidates, and the screening team. V. Mercuiro also stated that as of today, there are 20 applications.

o   D. Pallasch approved the Successful Candidate Profile packet as presented by Dr. Mercuiro.

o   J. Sherman seconded the motion

o   The vote taken was 5 -0

b.    Approve Proposed Salary Range for New Superintendent

·         D. Pallasch made a motion to approve the New Superintendent Salary

·         Range to be between $165,000.00 and $180,000.00.

·         J. Sherman seconded the motion.

c.    Policy #1024 School Improvement Team (First Read to replace Policy #1023)

·         Move to Second Read

d.    Policy #1200 Homeless Students and Families (Vote to Remove Policy)

e.    Memo: Policy Subcommittee Request to Review and Update Policy #1076 “Advertisement Policy”

·         D. Pallasch made a motion to refer policy #1076, Advertisement Policy, to the policy subcommittee for review.

f.     Health & Wellness Committee Update — Farm to Table

·         J. Sherman updated the board on the health and wellness committee, the committee was accepted into the Rhode Island Farm and Seed to School Institute.

g.    Vote to Accept ACT Foundation Grant in the amount of $4,500.00 for TMS Track & Field

·         E. Pavao made a motion to accept the ACT Foundation Grant in the amount of $4,500.00 for TMS Track & Field.

·         K. Paquette seconded the motion

h.    Math Matters Update

·         Dr. Sanchioni updated the board on the Math Matters Learn 365 program that will take place over the summer. This program ran last summer and was a great success. We are very grateful for the opportunity to have this program again this year.

i.      4^th Grade Relocation Update

·         S. Kraeger updated the board on the relocation of the 4th grade for the FY26 school year. She has had two focus groups so far, 18 people were in attendance, four staff members, and the rest were parents of students entering the fourth grade. We engaged parents, students, faculty, staff, and administration in meaningful dialogue and collaborative action to support the district’s transitions.

j.      FY 26 Budget Update

·         B. Andrade updated the board on the FY26 Budget. Dr. Sanchioni, D. Farnworth, and B. Andrade met with the Town Budget Committee on April 14, 2025, The meeting went well. The Town Budget Committee has until April 25, 2025, to present their finalized budget package to the Town Council and Town Administrator. The Town Council requested the School Department to meet on May 5, 2025 a first workshop.
