SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
Attendance:
Members Present: D. Farnworth, J. Sherman, K. Paquette, E. Pavao, D. Pallasch

a. Determine Superintendent Search Focus Groups Approach, Composition, and Schedule
· Focus will be held on the week of April 7 - 11, 2025
· Group 1 Faculty. Support Staff
· Group 2 Administrative (Management) Staff
· Group 3 Tiverton High School Students
· Group 4 Tiverton School Parents/Guardians
· Group 5 Tiverton Town Administration, Employee, Elected & Appointed Officials
· Group 6 Community Members at Large
o For those unable to attend a group session, an online survey, managed and provided by NESDEC, is available. NESDEC uses standard questions commonly employed in similar searches and compiles the results.
b. Determine Superintendent Search Screening Committee Approach and Composition. The discussion was around the desire to have a cross-section of stakeholder groups serve as committee members. Once appointments are approved, members will be asked to accept the appointment. In the event an invitee declines, alternates are to be selected as well.
· D. Farnworth made a motion to appoint S. Kraeger as the central administration liaison to the Superintendent Search Committee
o E. Pavao seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch motioned to appoint D. Farnworth as the School Committee liaison to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 - 0
· D. Pallasch made a motion to appoint K. Destremps or her designee as the representative of the NEA to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch made a motion to appoint W. Flynn or her designee as the representative of Council 94 to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch motioned to appoint Town Administrator Patrick Jones to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o K. Paquette seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 - 0
· D. Pallasch made a motion to appoint the Student Representative or a Student Council member to the Superintendent Search Committee
o K. Paquette seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch made a motion to appoint J. Sowa, parent of a High School student, as an alternate to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 4 - 1 E. Pavao against
· D. Farnworth made a motion to appoint Chris Cureton, a parent from Pocasset School and SELAC chair, to the Superintendent Search Committee
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 4 - 1 K. Paquette against
· D. Pallasch motioned to appoint Ana Vacuna, a parent of a Ranger & TMS student, as an alternate to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o The vote taken was 5-0
· J. Sherman made a motion to appoint Candace Magnet, a parent of a Ft. Barton student, to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o Pallasch seconded the motion

· D. Pallasch motioned to appoint Susan Oliveira, a parent of a TMS student, to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o E. Pavao seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch motioned to appoint Mike Scheffler, a parent of a Tiverton High School student, to the Superintendent Search Committee.
o J. Sherman seconded the motion
o The vote taken was 5 -0
· D. Pallasch made a motion to appoint J. Sherman to the Superintendent Search Committee
o Seconded by D. Farnworth
o The vote taken was 3 - 1 - 1(Paquette, No, Pavao, Abstain)
· K. Paquette made a motion to appoint E. Pavao to the Superintendent Search Committee
o Seconded by D. Farnworth
o No vote was taken
c. General Discussion Pertaining to Superintendent Search
· A discussion was held, and Screening members were chosen. The screening committee’s work is expected to take place between May 7 - May 22, 2025.
· D. Pallasch made a motion to adjourn the meeting
· Seconded by J. Sherman.
