Karen Tarasevich, Superintendent, was in attendance on behalf of the School Department.  She explained the need for expansion of school facilities due to increased enrollment.  The State has a grant available to pay at least sixty percent of the project.  She would like to put together a building committee.

05        Update on Crossing Guard Pay Rate

 

M. Knott explains that the School Department is working with the Police Department to rectify this issue.  They are hoping to finalize this within the next few weeks.  He will inform the Council when it is completed.

 

06        Update on the Arctic Gazebo

 

M. Knott explains that several repairs have been completed.  They are planning to have the fence removed on November 17th.  He states that food service has ceased, there will be increased sanitation, enforcement of the dusk to dawn ordinance, and an overall increase in town presence. 

 

07        Resignation of Mark Bourget as Council Representative of Ward Five Effective November 8, 2023

 

M. Bourget announces that he is resigning from the Town Council effective November 8, 2023 due to moving out of state.  He thanks Ward 5 for supporting him.  He thanks the Council and Town employees.  He would like to see Mark Dennison as his replacement in Ward 5.

N.        Public Forum

 

T. Collins, of 85 Crestwood Drive, and chair of the Republican Town Committee expresses sincere regret in losing Mark Bourget.  The Republican Town Committee interviewed candidates for the vacancy and recommends Mark Dennison for the position. 

 

J. Licciardi inquires about the process to replace a council member.

 

D. Gosselin reads the process from the charter.  He asks for this to be placed on the next agenda.

 

A. Palazzo. of 5 Robin Lane, will miss Councilman Bourget.  He would like the discussion of appointment of Ward 5 Councilman on the next agenda.  He thinks Mark Dennison would do a fantastic job.
