S. Saccoccio, Tax Assessor, explained the current tax exemptions. He will prepare some proposed amendments to the tax exemptions for the next Town Council meeting.

A. Palazzo, of 5 Robin Lane, asks about the new podium. He shares concerns about the road construction on Cowesett Avenue. He suggests some sort of oversite on tax agreements. He also states that there needs to be amendments to the Senior Tax Exemption. Seniors cannot afford to stay in their homes. He suggests a veterans affairs officer, and a tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans.
B. Mollohan, Town Sergeant, has worked with Cardi’s Furniture to purchase new chairs for the Town Council Chambers. He will order 50 chairs in total. 35 with arms, and 15 without arms. He asks for the Town’s tax exemption information. This will be a gift from him to the Town. He asked for this matter to be placed on the October 17th agenda.
D. Quintal, of Legris Avenue, states that his taxes have doubled in eight years. He is a disabled veteran. His bills keep going up.
A. Palazzo thanks the DPW for the work that was done on the front entrance. He states that there are weeds that need to be pulled.
R. Adrian, of 37 Brayton Street, feels that they should open up the Municipal Court Judge position statewide, but give preference to residents. He supports the senior tax exemption being amended. He states that when he was the assistant engineer for the Town, he put in 200 hours of unpaid overtime.
D. Read, of 62 Andrew’s Avenue asks what the plan is for the gazebo after the fence comes down. He is concerned with the homeless encampments and needles.
M. Ferrara, of 73 Maple Street, asks for a stop sign on Brookside Avenue.
T. Oates suggests getting the State Representatives involved with the homeless and drug addiction issues in town. There needs to be a solution.
D. Quintal shares concerns with posts he has seen on Facebook about the homeless being pushed into our town. He also shares concerns with Thundermist.
