SC2025-17 Adoption of WWTF FY26 Budget (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026)
· Council President Gosselin asked Mr. Corrente to give a brief overview of what we’re expecting for rate increase for the public’s knowledge.
· Mr. Corrente explained the budgets request for a rate increase from $4.65 per 100 cubic feet to $4.80 per 100 cubic feet. The bill will be calculated on 90% of water consumption instead of 80% of water consumption. The minimum consumption used for billing purposes will be decreased from 4,000 cubic feet to 3,800 cubic feet. A minimum user will see a decrease in their bill of approximately $4.00 per year. The average user will see an increase of approximately $52.00 per year, and a well uses will see an increase of $15.00 per year. A large property such as Royal Mills will see a decrease of $900 per year. There was one addition to the budget regarding the CUPA and Business applications for small business that do not have a signifant impact on the system, basically any business that just has a toilet and sink. They are proposing a lower application fee of $100 opposed to the $350 fee for users that have a higher impact on the system.. Mr. Corrente explained that this was already included in the updated budget resolution.
· Council Vice President Williamson asked Mr. Corrente increasing EDU . There is still a charge for Edu’s we are not increase them.
· Mr. Corrente explained that with the new budget the people that use more water will be pay more.
· Council President Gosslin stated that was what their goal was, it helps smaller families and senior citizens that don’t use as much water. He thanked Mr. Corrente for his hard work and getting that new rate.
· Council President Gosslin asked if the council had any questions. There were no questions.
· Council President Gosslin thated Mr. Corrente for taking what he said to at the first meeting to heart and thanked Mr. Chapedlaine and the department.
· Council Vice President Williamson thanked Mr Corrente and everone for the time and effort that went into this budget.
Resolution SC2025-17 was moved by Council Vice President Williamson and seconded by Councilman Messier. All in favor, none opposed (5 – 0) voted to accept
No public comment.
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Messier and seconded by Councilman Liccardi. All in favor, none opposed (5 - 0) voted to accept. Adjourned at 5:38 p.m.
