John Pagano, Director of Maintenance
Cindy Kirchoff, Deputy Finance Director
Dr. Garceau provided additional information regarding the School capital program, which the Council had requested and which is attached hereto and made a part of the record of these proceedings. He stated that any maintenance work is eligible for the 35% reimbursement from RIDE.
John Pagano, Director of Maintenance, explained the maintenance and site work that need to be done at the schools.
Discussion was held regarding the use of Tower Street School, removing funds for same, and possibly relinquishing the building.
It was the consensus of the Council that committed fire suppression funds in the amount of $270,000 be used for school capital needs; that $244,000 be retained in the school capital account along with the $582,140 appropriated for a total of $826,140; and that the school operational budget be level funded, with the recommendation that the School Department relinquish the Tower Street School and retain the savings.
