 8.    ELECTION OF NEW COUNCIL PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT

       

        a.     Nomination of Council President

 

     Town Clerk Giordano called for nominations for Council President.

 

     Councilor Cooke nominated Sharon E. Ahern for Town Council President.  There were no other nominations. 

 

A vote was taken on the nomination of Sharon E. Ahern as President of the Town Council and the nomination carried.  (Voted Unanimously)

 

        b.     Passing of the gavel

 

     Former Town Council President Duhamel passed the gavel to the new Town Council President.

 

        c.     Nomination of Council Vice President

 

     Councilor Cioffi nominated Suzanne K. Giorno for Town Council Vice President.  Councilor Overton nominated Caswell Cooke, Jr. for said position.

 

A poll vote was taken as follows on the nomination of Suzanne K. Giorno as Vice President of the Town Council and the nomination carried.  (So Voted 4 to 3 – Councilors Cooke and Overton and Council President Ahern dissented)

 9.    APPOINTMENTS

 

        a.     Appointment of School Committee Member

 

     Councilor Duhamel nominated Michael Ober for School Committee.  Councilor Overton nominated Timothy Killam for said position.

 

A poll vote was taken as follows on the nomination of Michael Ober of 39 Sherwood Drive as a member of the School Committee to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mary Adams, term expiring November 2022 and the nomination carried.  (So Voted 4 to 3 – Councilors Cooke and Overton and Council President Ahern dissented)

10.   ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Request for submittal of applications for Assistant Solicitors, Judges, and Boards, Committees and Commissions

  

     Council President Ahern announced that letters of interest for the positions of Assistant Solicitors for Planning, Zoning and Prosecutions, Judges of Probate and Municipal Courts, and applications for Boards, Committees and Commissions should be submitted no later than Monday, December 14, 2020.
