JOINT MEETING WITH SCHOOL COMMITTEE

2.      NEW BUSINESS

 

a.     Joint Pre-Budget Meeting With School Committee Pursuant To RIGL §16-2-21(a)

 

Present:   School Committee Members:  Robert M. Cillino, Chair; Guiseppe Gencarelli, Vice Chair; Christine M. Cooke; Leslie S. Dunn; Lori E. Wycall; Michael Ober

                 Cindy Kirchhoff, School Finance Director

                 Dr. Mark Garceau, School Superintendent

                 Irene Lynch, Town Finance Director

                 Rose Falcone, School Superintendent Executive Assistant

 

Absent:    Diane C. Bowdy, School Committee

 

5:08 P.M.  Chair Cillino called the School Committee meeting to order.

 

      Town Manager Lacey briefly addressed the five-year projected budgets.

 

     Dr. Garceau stated that this annual joint meeting between the Town Council and the School Committee is required by State Law, and that it signals the beginning of the budget season. 

 

     Discussion was held regarding the memorandum from Irene Lynch, Director of Finance, dated December 18, 2023, which is attached hereto and made part of the record of these proceedings.  The Council discussed the projections in Grant in Aid School; the decrease in General Property Taxes; the one-time finance source; and the amount allocated to the FY2023/2024 School budget. 

 

5:16 P.M.  Motion by Ms. Wycall, Seconded by Mr. Ober, that the School Committee meeting be adjourned.  (So Voted 6 to 0 – Ms. Bowdy absent)

 

 

3.      ADJOURNMENT

 

        5:165 P.M.  Voted Unanimously to adjourn.
