Hartford Marathon Foundation presented by Westerly Hospital
Sept. 7, 2025 7:30 am – 11:30 am
Present: Jennifer Britton, owner, Grey Sail Brewery, 63 Canal St, representing Matt Anderson, Hartford Marathon Foundation
Ms. Britton stated that this event is in its third year and draws approximately 2,500 participants. She stated that setup begins at 7:00 a.m. and that the event ends around 10:30 a.m., that the road is closed during the event, and that the organizers work closely with the Police Department. She explained that a light beer service starts around 8:00 a.m., that only participants 21 years of age and over are given a free beverage ticket, and that all servers are tip certified. She further explained that the servers only hand out open beers which are required to be consumed and then discarded into recycling bins before leaving the enclosed area. She stated that the event allows for beverage ticket sales to non-runners, stating that these transactions are handled by Hartford Marathon Foundation and not Grey Sail Brewery.

Sean Spellman/dba: Dawnlands 38-40 High St
Feb. 15 & April 19, 2025 7 pm – 11 pm
Present: Sean Spellman, owner, Dawnlands
Mr. Spellman explained the every event is the past has attracted no more than 30 participants. He stated that the temporary bar is a one-person operation and that he is tips certified. He stated that the live music varies from a soloist to a three-piece band.
