Mr. Cioppa called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Cioppa introduced the board and read the Zoning Rules of Procedure into record

1. March 11th, 2026- The board reviewed the minutes from the March 11th meeting. Ms. Robinson motioned to approve the minutes, and Mr. Martone seconded the proposed motion. The board was all in favor, and the minutes passed

No new business to discuss
1. Alan Peck, on behalf of Wilcox Park, 44 Broad Street, AP ‘56’, Lot ‘83’ is requesting a Special Use Permit to construct a 16’ x 26’ metal carport to shelter park equipment. A Special Use Permit is required for any new structure proposed in the Open Space Recreation Zone, pursuant to 260 Attachment 10 – Schedule of Dimensional Regulations, and (§260-34) Special Use Permits
Mr. Loiselle read the narrative and stated that the zoning department supports the application. There were no questions of the narrative from board members.
Wilcox Park Superintendent, Alan Peck, 220 Bradford Road, Bradford, RI 02808, was present to represent this application. It was explained by Mr. Peck that the proposed structure would increase longevity of park equipment by providing cover against weather exposure. Mr. Peck also explained the location functionality of the carport, highlighting that it would be in close proximity to other maintenance structures. Ms. Robinson inquired about trash disposal, privacy screens, storage areas, and ingress and egress. The applicant addressed the inquiries. With no further questions, Mr. Cioppa polled the board at 6:12 p.m. Members were all in favor of the project and did not need any additional information. No members of the public were present to provide comments. Upon no public comment, Mr. Martone motioned to close the public hearing of this matter at 6:13 p.m. Ms. Moore seconded the motion. The board was all in favor, and the public hearing was closed at 6:13 p.m.
Ms. Robinson then provided a summary of the application and discussion from the public hearing. The board granted administrative authority to the Zoning Official to approve further non-material modifications to the approved plans. Ms. Robinson motioned to approve the Special Use Permit application, which proposed to construct a 16’ x 26’ carport in the northwest section of Wilcox Park, as shown on the aerial photo submitted with the application, pursuant to Section § 260-34 Special Use Permits and 260 Attachment 10 – Town of Westerly Schedule of Dimensional Regulations of the Town of Westerly Zoning Ordinance, with no conditions. Mr. Burns seconded the motion. The board was all in favor, and the motion carried unanimously

Mr. Cioppa entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:24 p.m. Ms. Robinson moved the motion, and Ms. Moore seconded the motion. The board was all in favor, and the meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
